Why should I train at Acadiana Karate and not another school?
There are many great martial arts school and each has a unique benefit. However, we pride ourselves on teaching students to be well-rounded martial artists by cross-training in traditional karate, stand-up, ground fighting and street self-defense. Apart from the physical, our dojo is a community of like- minded individuals and families. Students are required to take part in a variety of leadership process that relate to community service, healthy eating, environmental self-defense, non-violent conflict resolution, acts of kindness and more.
How often an I (or is my child) expected to train?
We recommend two classes per week and two-three classes per week at BBC (intermediate), and three classes a week at the advanced and leadership levels.
What style do you teach?
We teach a mixed martial arts style which is a blended system with techniques from Shotokan, Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, Kickboxing and combatives self-defense including weapons.
When does the next session start?
Our classes are ongoing and you can start at any time. Keep in mind that the martial arts is a discipline, not a sport. You will be expected to train year-round with reasonable breaks for vacations or holidays. Your consistency and dedication is what will see you through your journey to black belt.
Besides tuition, what other fees will I be expected to pay?
As you progress to the intermediate level, you will purchase your own gear which ensures that everyone has the same high level of quality and protection, as well as proper hygiene. We do charge belt test fees but you these fees when the time comes to earn your next belt. Each person’s martial arts journey is different so everyone is on their own timetable.
Is it safe?
Our clean, modern facilities and equipment and our experienced certified instructors make classes very safe.
What if i'm too old, what if i'm not in shape?
